Update your Google account settings to ensure uninterrupted work of your Scrile Connect website.
If you send emails and notifications to your users via Gmail SMTP server, this article will be extremely important for you as it describes a crucial update of Gmail services.
To ensure uninterrupted work of your mailing services, Scrile Connect now has to use App Password, not the password from the Google account.
Why?
In order to improve their services, to help keep your account secure, starting May 30, 2022, Google will no longer support the use of third-party apps or devices which ask you to sign in to your Google Account using only your login and password. How?
To keep sending data to Gmail and for it to support respective configuration, we now have to use App Password, not the password from the Google account.
In order to generate this password, please follow the steps below.
Go to Account settings
Open the Security tab
Enable 2 factor authentication (enter password, then enter and confirm a phone number)
Go back to account settings, open the Security tab
Open the App passwords tab (right under the 2 factor authentication)
Fill in the fields with any data. It asks to select an app, device, etc. You may choose any custom names and write, for example, "my awesome app".
Copy the password that Google will generate
Send the password to us in the support ticket at support.scrile.com and we will update your settings accordingly.
